I’m taking A level psychology in 6th form, as i want to study it at Uni. But i’ve been told if i wanted to study it at Uni, i’d have to have an A level in Science aswell. Is it essential to have A level in Science?
why bother-what are you going to do with that qualification????? why not do a vocational degree which gets you a job at the end!!!
I’m picking up Psychology next year. I’m already majoring in Education and want to combined them together and then become a primary teacher.
I’m starting an introductory paper 17th November and then I have a full year next year of Psyc. I’m just wondering what is usually covered?
Thanks
In NZ, not sure.
But in the US, there will be several classes of general theories to survey usually. General, developmental, educational/childhood and abnormal psychology classes to begin with.
Once you get the general survey courses out of the way in the first year, either you pick an “experimental” or “counseling” track. Experimental is more towards testing and evaluation, and counseling is where the rubber meets the road as the saying goes.
For a teacher, I’d suggest classes in art therapy, possibly hypnosis, and certainly theory of education and intelligence development.
I heard that it's competitive, but most of universities I have seen only require ABB A-level or something like that. Really, does Psychology course in univeristy require much work experience like Medicine course?
No – not really. It just depends on the University. If it's an ivy-league, then yes!!! Otherwise, it doesn't require as much experience.
I have a BA in Psych and wish to complete my educaton by doing the Master's program in general psychology through the University of Phoenix distance learning. If anyone has done this I would appreciate any feedback. How has it made you more marketable? What kind of work are you currently doing with your MS in Psyc?
How was your overall experience with UOP? Thank you in advance for any helpful comments and advice.
I haven't studied there, but I am not sure that Phoenix really raises your marketability (because of reputation problems). It might be also wise to look at other psychology programmes, and decide on a non-for-profit university (that is, unlike Phoenix, not interested first and foremost in profits, but is publicly supervised.
