I was going to join the military as an officer after school. I was wondering if top business grad schools viewed military branches, the same or different.
What I mean to ask is, would an Admissions Officer view experience as say, an officer in the Marines as being more impressive than being an officer in the Navy, Army, or Air Force? Are any of these branches considered more prestigious, or are they all considered "military experience" in the eyes of an Admissions Officer?
Mind you, this is not the primary reason I am joining the military. I have always wanted to serve my country, but I have always had an interest in Finance, and I would like to eventually someday move into it after I got my MBA.
Thanks
Most schools view officer training from all branches the same. The elite schools know that Marine the Officer Candidate Course is 2nd to none.
I have been thinking about going on a solo roadtrip after high school for many years now. I've got at most two months to go across america, less would be fine. I have no idea what i want to see, but i kind of don't want too much of a plan. I'm going to be 18 so i was thinking about camping a lot to save $$ and because most places only rent to people over 21. I have my own car, and its 2003, under 50k miles, for focus so its in pretty good condition, despite buying it used. I have AAA and good insurance. I'm also going to have a GPS by this time which will help incase I get hopelessly lost. Also i'll have my cellphone of course. I'd have a budget of about $2,500 more or less. I'm very responsible and my parents trust me quite a lot; i also loooove driving
Since I'm going away to college a couple weeks after I get back, I'm hoping this will help prepare me for being far from home and help me do some "soul searching". Do you think this is reasonable and could actually happen?
Certainly it could happen, that's up to you. I would like you to consider some things however. I'm a truck driver and travel all 48 states and Canada, so I'm familiar with some of the things you'll face. First, you'll find that the road can be quite lonely (even with a cell phone) and even if it's refreshing at first, you will find yourself longing for the human interaction that you're used to (even if you're a loner, the isolation can get to you). Second is your personal safety. There are alot of bad people out in the world, and a lone female makes a tempting target for a predator. I don't have a daughter, but seeing the creeps that I have seen out here, it would scare me to death if she were to roadtrip alone. Avoid rest areas at night. Try to find truck stops when you just need to rest your eyes, because they are open 24 hrs. I'm really not trying to scare you out of this, but just be aware that there are bad people out there and they look as normal as your neighbors. With two months to play with, you can see most of the country. I don't know where you're from, but I would suggest driving the Pacific Coast Hwy. from southern California to Washington state if you've never driven it before. There are many more places I could suggest but this is too long as is, so if you decide to do it, please be safe and have a great time!
i.e :law school, med school, etc.
Yes! You should talk with the financial aid office at the school you are applying to. You could also get graduate fellowships, and you can get some money for teaching an undergraduate class…one of my friends got a 10,000 scholarship for her Masters in Social Work.
Also if you are planning to work while attending grad school, then you might be eligible for tuition reimbursement from your place of employment!
GOOD LUCK!!!
Is it the same or different from when you were an undergraduate?
It appears that the question period has expired. If an answer has been given that meets your needs, please pick a 'best answer'. Regards
I’m taking A level psychology in 6th form, as i want to study it at Uni. But i’ve been told if i wanted to study it at Uni, i’d have to have an A level in Science aswell. Is it essential to have A level in Science?
why bother-what are you going to do with that qualification????? why not do a vocational degree which gets you a job at the end!!!
What is the best beauty school in America? I haven’t even graduated high school but I need to pick a VERY good beauty school to go to for cosmetology after I graduate. Please give me a top 5 schools. I’ve searched around and nothing seems to help me find anything! I really want to be very successful in the “beauty” industry. So starting off at a good school should make things alot easier!! thank you
It dosen’t matter what school you graduate from..If a student graduated from a Local not know school, they could do better then a student who graduated from Aveda or another ‘Higher’ up there School..The only different is the tuition cost…..If you want to be succesful, then that’s all you…Get some experiance in the Industry, after you graduate from school, and then go to a Bigger High Class Salon and make yourself known….Start a Portfolio while in school.
